Amid sagging fortunes of the party in the three districts of
north Andhra, especially in Vizag, TD local leaders have taken up the task to
make changes to the party office located on a rocky terrain in Ramnagar
according to Vastu.
Vizag was once a strong bastion for TD, but since 2004 for
almost a decade, party suffered major losses including desertion of important
leaders like Ganta Srinivas Rao and party heavyweights like Ch Ayyana Patrudu
and Bandaru Satyanarayan Murthy losing the polls. North
Andhra region having 34 assembly and 5 parliament segments always
helped TD to come into power.
It was Naidu’s close confidant and rajyasabha member, Sujana
Chowdharuy during his visits to city as party in charge earlier, said to have
proposed certain changes complying vastu rules. Vastu experts were specially
flown into city to study the building.
Thereby, an informal committee with local leaders was also
appointed to oversee the construction of certain changes as suggested by the
vastu experts. While making changes according to vastu has begun last year, it
took sometime to finish the works.
In March this year, two months before the polls, works moved
on a brisk pace and were completed on a war-footing before the polling day. A
three-foot wall opposite the statue of NTR that ran up to the backside of the
building was demolished.
The drive way was raised and the entrance was partially
closed. The entrance was also shifted closer to the building. The NTR statue on the northeast side has been shifted to the
lawns and a wall was constructed on the side of the hillock blocking it.
Interestingly certain changes made earlier according to a
vastu expert were undone on the advice of another expert as the party suffered
further losses after doing so. The four
compound walls were raised to an equal level.
“Vastu is also a science and we wanted to make certain
changes to the office. And now see the
sea change in the fortunes,” said a senior TD leader.
TD bagged 12 assembly segments and 2 parliament seats along
with its ally BJP in the district leaving a meager, 3 assembly and 1 lok sabha
seat to its rival party YSRC in the district.
