Youth decry ‘injustice’

Visakhapatnam, June 5, 2014: Ever since the reports started emerging that capital, new railway zone and IT hub had gone to Vijayawada-Guntur region, which is tipped the new capital of AP, local youth have taken to social media to cry foul about the injustice to the region. Their frustration over the negligence towards Vizag by the authorities was quiet visible on various social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google Hangout.

“If we lose both capital and railway zone, we will be damned completely. Just now I got information that both are likely to go to Vijayawada- Guntur due to pressure by their leaders. So friends we have to fight for our rights. Please take it seriously,” said MSR Raju in a group on FB.

Until now, there was only one active group – Vizag capital city for Seemandhra-which  has members in thousands advocating the need for Vizag to be the capital, but now there are a at least half a dozen such groups propped up to ‘fight’ for the rights of Vizag.

There have been online discussions and debates in groups like “Utarandhra Hakkula Samithi” and “Wake up Vizag- If not now then never” to create awareness among the youth to come out in support of the development of Vizag and take their aspirations into the notice of the concerned.

“ Not only railway zone, we need to get solid confirmation regarding IT and manufacturing sectors. They can't deprive us development citing geographical reasons,” said a member of these groups Chaitanya Thota.

 Though strangers to each other on Thursday, they held an online discussion on Google Hangout and decided to hold a demonstration on Saturday to make the power corridors listen to them on the needs of Vizag.  The members seem to be very serious about their effort and  decided to hold the programme in an organised manner. Accordingly they were divided into certain groups with set responsibilities to each member right from creating awareness among all the social media sites to arranging banners and doing ground work.

“If u can spend one day for Vizag, it will work wonders for our beautiful city. All that we need is to break this opinion that Vizagites never come on the road and demonstrate that if all investments go towards other places then no one will keep quite. The dvelopment should b all across the state. It’s very important for Vizag’s future and to fight injustice,” said Aditya Sameer Guduru. 

“Hello Vizag!! Elections are done. We have elected the best leaders. Is that all enough.... Do you think simply by voting and electing good leader , our job is done. Certainly NO ! WAKE UP. Don't you want your city to be developed ? Don't you want to be part of that development ? Don't you want our city to create job opportunities ? Don't you want MNC companies in our city ? Do you know that the Railway Zone is almost moving to other city .?? Come raise your voice ...If not now then never!” says the group.
